Experimental Archaeology Workshop

Date: Monday 4 December
Time: 10.00am to 4.00pm
Venue: La Trobe University Wildlife Sanctuary, Bundoora
Cost: $30 includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea

Join us for a fun day of experimental archaeology in the Wildlife Sanctuary at the main La Trobe University campus in Bundoora. You will have the chance to participate in a variety of experiments including clay ball heat retainer cooking, lithic manufacturing, bone taphonomy experiments and much more! We will also have a tour of the La Trobe University ‘Animal Body Farm’. We hope that this workshop will help launch the Australian Experimental Archaeology Group (AEAG); and we aim for this day to lead to a conference paper in the Experimental Archaeology Session at AAA2017 on the results from the workshop; with the potential for a multi-authored paper as an output. If you have any ideas on other experiments that we can try during the workshop, or would like to lead an experiment or demonstration at the session, please get in contact with the organisers:
